One Job. One Page. Don’t Fluff It.
How to Make Your Landing Page Actually Work
Let’s be honest—landing pages aren’t that complicated.
They’ve got one job: Get the visitor to take action. And yet… many don’t.
They waffle. They distract. They look nice but do very little.
So here’s a no-nonsense list of things to check, tweak, and test to make sure your landing page is actually pulling its weight.
1. Your Headline: Does It Hit Home?
If the first thing your visitor sees is “Welcome to our website,” you’ve already lost them.
Use a headline that says what you’re offering and why it matters. Be clear, benefit-focused, and ditch the fluff.
Try this:
“Double your online sales with a landing page that’s built to convert.”
(Not: “We make websites.”)
2. One Offer, One Focus
A landing page isn’t the place for everything you do. It’s a spotlight, not a full CV.
Stick to one offer. One action. Keep it simple and focused.
3. Your Call-to-Action: Make It Obvious
“Get Started.” “Book Now.” “Claim Your Freebie.”
Whatever it is, make it loud, proud, and repeated. And yes—on mobile too.
4. Mobile Users Are People Too
Over half your visitors are probably on their phones. If your buttons are too tiny to tap or your text needs squinting, you’re losing them.
Quick wins:
Bigger buttons
16px+ text
No pop-ups from hell
5. Trust Cues Count
Logos, testimonials, a friendly face, a guarantee—they all add up.
People want to feel safe before clicking anything. Give them reasons to trust you.
6. Don’t Forget the Techy Bits
Slow pages = lost people.
Google’s watching, too. Compress your images, use real headings, and check your page on tools like PageSpeed Insights.
7. Test, Learn, Improve
A/B testing isn’t just for big brands. Try different headlines, button colours, or CTA placements.
Watch what works. And do more of that.
One page. One job.
If your landing page is focused, clear, mobile-friendly, and actually built to convert, you’ll see the results. If it’s all style and no strategy… well, people swipe left.
